|  For people with disabilities, accomplishing daily tasks such as talking with friends, going to school, or participating in recreational activities may be challenging. Technology, if used effectively, has the potential to maximize the independence, personal productivity and empowerment of individuals with disabilities in all aspects of everyday life.
 This course will cover resources that support the transition and employment process and realization of post school outcomes. These resources are not typically located within the school district itself, but do go hand in hand with the transitional services provided through the school district.
 An overview of the rights, roles, and responsibilities of the student, his or her parents, and the school during the transition process.
This course discusses the great range of diversity within ethnic and racial groups in regards to transition. Individualization is a guiding principle of cultural competency for success in moving from school to work.
 This course provides an overview of how to teach and enhance self-determination skills of students transitioning out of school.
 This course introduces the use of person-centered planning as a way to develop strategies and documents related to transition planning. The process focuses on the people and their needs by putting them in charge of defining the direction for their lives, not on the systems that may or may not be available to serve them.
 Beginning at age 14, a student’s diploma options will be included in the Individual Education Plan (IEP), and reviewed annually. There are several diploma options available in the state of Florida. These are reviewed in this course. The diploma option chosen has a great impact on the student’s transition and should be planned well.
